Some years ago I received the nickname Hefaistos from Bogdan Marina, a famous professional Romanian bridge player. He called me so due to the analogy between my Latin "Vulcan" name and its Greek equivalent - Hephaestus, God of technology, blacksmiths, craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metals, metallurgy, fire and of course volcanoes. I am a passionate bridge player. I've played in juniors and am working my way to representing Romania in not-so-juniors. I won the National Pairs and Mamaia open (pairs, teams, individual, overall), I ranked 16th and 14th in the World Junior Individual Championships, 15th in pairs at 1st World Mind Sports Games, and am currently positioned 23rd in Romania's overall ranking.

I started Hef's Bridge Blog out of passion for the game and for all its aspects. I am dedicated to quality and always on the lookout for bettering myself, this blog and the content I bring to my readers.
I've also opened an Amazon.com powered shop that I called Hef's Bridge Attic. I've manually reviewed more than 140 books that together with selected playing cards, apparel and other resources represent my recommendations for the aspiring or dedicated bridge player.
